Key responsibilities

VML Amsterdam is looking for a Senior Art Director with a passion for crafting innovative and visually stunning work across various platforms. In this role, you'll collaborate with copywriters, designers, and strategists to deliver creative solutions that speak to both Dutch and international audiences. Your visual storytelling will be central to shaping the brand identities of our clients across different media channels.

Solving client problems in form of comping up with creative ideas, concepts and managing creative productions and creative processes.

What you will do:

  • Develop high-quality visual concepts that align with client objectives and campaign strategies.
  • Collaborate with copywriters to create cohesive and compelling campaigns for both Dutch and international markets.
  • Lead the design process from concept to execution, ensuring a high standard of visual communication across all platforms (digital, social, print).
  • Work closely with clients to present ideas, gathering feedback and iterating on designs to ensure alignment with brand goals.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and apply innovative approaches to design challenges.

 

You are able to demonstrate:

  • Visual Storytelling: The ability to craft innovative and high-quality visual concepts that communicate compelling narratives across multiple media platforms.
  • Conceptual Collaboration: Proficiency in working closely with copywriters and strategists to develop cohesive, creative ideas that align with campaign strategies and client objectives.
  • Client-Centric Design Leadership: Strong skills in presenting ideas to clients, incorporating feedback, and ensuring visual designs meet brand goals while maintaining creative excellence.
  • Trend Awareness and Innovation: A keen understanding of current industry trends, with the ability to integrate fresh, cutting-edge approaches into design solutions for diverse audiences.

 

What you'll need:

  • Fluency in Dutch and English, with the ability to write creatively and persuasively in both languages.
  • 4+ years of experience as an Art Director in a creative agency environment.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of projects, including digital campaigns.
  • Proficiency in both Dutch and English, with the ability to create visually engaging work for local and international audiences.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to both creative teams and clients.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including production and strategy.
  • Flexibility to work in our office and our client's offices when needed.
  • Currently living in The Netherlands with a valid work permit.

Our compensation:

  • A monthly gross salary from €5,400 and up to €7,000, based on experience.
  • A gross annual 8% holiday allowance pay.
