Information Security Specialist - Amsterdam

As an Information Security Specialist, you assist in the overall security strategy of the company. You design, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that reduce security risks and increase compliance and awareness. 

You help in assessing the risks and vulnerabilities in the IT landscape and infrastructure, determining the impact and likelihood of these risks, and mitigating them. You are part of the incident management team and handle security incidents, crisis management, and post-mortem analysis to safeguard business continuity. You ensure company-wide adherence to legal, regulatory, and industry standards by implementing and managing policies, procedures, programs, projects, and documentation.

You are a part of the Tellent Information Security Team and together we enforce security baselines, manage compliance checks, and ensure policies and procedures remain aligned with security requirements. You are the link between leadership, sales & marketing, support, development, customers, and third-parties for all cybersecurity matters.

About the team: 

1 Team Lead (also the internal Information Security Officer) based in The Netherlands (mostly remote), and 2 IT Engineers, one in Poznan PL and one in Amsterdam NL.

Your 12-month journey:

• During the first 3 months: The focus will be on getting to know Tellent, our policies, and our tool sets. We will run you through our configurations, regular checks and audits that we perform, and create clarity on the Security responsibilities so that you’re fully familiarized with our ways of working. To support you during this process you will work closely together with our Information Security Officer and the IT Team members and will follow our written-out procedures. The goal for the first three months is to ramp up your knowledge so that you can independently handle most incoming requests and get hands-on experience with our in-place policies, procedures, and projects.
• Within 6 months: Once familiar with our daily operations the role will incorporate more high-level security visions and goals. This means that you will be helping Tellent with maintaining the security base-line that is in place. This includes everything that is required to maintain the ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications that Tellent currently has. You will be building on and improving what is currently there, together with the Information Security Team.
• After 1 year: By this point, you will have gained a good understanding of what is required to maintain the level of security and will be better equipped to improve and expand upon it. Cybersecurity is always changing and our tools are rapidly evolving and adapting, so there will always be something that can be changed, updated or improved.

What you’ll be doing:

Your day-to-day tasks will involve assisting with internal and external security questions. However, the bigger focus is on policies and compliance. Broader discussions on how security can be implemented without being a hindrance for employees and users, while still maintaining a good level of security and adherence to legal, regulatory, and industry standards.

Day-to-day security:

• Helping employees answer questions regarding security, policies, and procedures.
• Helping support or sales with answering questions related to security from customers.
• Dealing with security incidents like phishing, spam mails, and reported bugs. This all with assistance of our security tools and applications.
• Managing low level security procedures, internal audit scenarios, and automated checks.
  
  

Broader security:

• Managing and updating policies and procedures like the Information Security Policy, Risk Assessment, Information Security Management System, and others.
• Preparing for and assisting in internal and external security audits.
• Checking and maintaining compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 controls.
• Increasing security awareness among employees with awareness campaigns and security incident exercises.
• Assisting in updating and maintaining security documentation, like security handbooks, internal audit controls, and vendor due diligence.

All these tasks will be done in cooperation with the Information Security Team, and with assistance from other teams like Legal, DevOps, (Tech) Support, or others.

What you’ll bring to the team:

• IT Security related work experience.
• Familiarity with security standards and regulations.
• Knowledge in risk assessment, treatment plans, incident response, and security audits.
• Basic understanding of technical security implementations.
• Experience with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.
• Ability to explain security topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Flexibility, creativity, and focus on delivering solutions that work for every stakeholder involved.
• Having any security related certifications is a bonus.
